“Don’t Make Me Over” is delivered by Nathaly Lopez with cool fervor, orchestrated as a straight-up blues song about a woman who loves a man who won’t love her as she is. Ms. Lopez also impresses in one of the more appealing upbeat numbers, a vibrant version of “I Say a Little Prayer” that nods toward the great Aretha Franklin version but settles into its own slick rhythmic groove.

And in the rare case where a Bacharach song is naturally theatrical, where it contains an actual action, like the ultimatum of “Don’t Make Me Over,” the result can be overwhelming. Lopez’s solo rendition of that 1962 Warwick hit (supposedly based on Warwick’s own complaint to the songwriters) is the show’s heart-rending highlight.
